My brother and I were at the Dollarama yesterday. He needed supplies to make some practice poi, and he’s gonna show me some basic poi moves today too. :)
Its all pretty exciting, its only too bad that the sun isn’t shining today. I mean, its truly beautiful outside - like an autumn or spring day … you can really smell the trees and its simply wonderful, but it comes with a price: clouds.
So, at the Dollarama, I found these cute little blank books … they’re small (appx 4.5 x 6.5) and perfect bound, with artistic covers. Upon seeing these books, I had to get a few. I feel like I’ve been getting more in touch with my creativity lately and remembered when I was in University. My instructor always encouraged us to keep a design journal. A place where you can jot down inspirational notes or ideas but also to develop them. I’m not really sure why I stopped keeping one on me, and I never really relied on my journals when I was in school … but I feel like I’m at a point where I can actually value having one. I guess I’ll have to start carrying a glue stick and a knife with me again too :/
I must say, however, that the size of a journal has always been an issue for me. As I am an avid collector of print media - and I mean anything! I’m constantly picking up postcards, brochures, handouts, pamplets, business cards… if its printed on paper and designed … I usually want it.
Its really a terrible habit, and I want to get all my little pieces organized into binders, but I really can’t help myself.
I guess all people collect different things. I have a small collection of wades, small plastic figures (if it looks like an army-man and I don’t have it yet, catch my drift?), I’d like to think I have a nice library of literature and Asimov books. But, seriously. Print media. Its so accessible and I have boxes of stuff by now (I think)
Well, I guess I’m just going to have to see if I can pay attention to my little book from here on. :)
